When I woke up in the morning… my right foot was a balloon and I was in excruciating pain!
Hi, this is Chris, founder of IWantGoutRelief.com and I want tell you the story of how this site came to be, and how it can help you.
I had my first gout attack back in 2007, at the young age of 32. I literally had no idea what hit me.
If you’ve studied the topic of gout for any length of time, you probably know that your first gout attack can be triggered by a stressful event that agitates one of your joints.
For me, I was simply bending my toe while doing a stretching demonstration (admittedly, a little too far), and I felt something “pop”. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but later that night the joint in my big toe started to feel more and more sore.
And then, when I woke up in the morning… my right foot was a balloon and I was in excruciating pain! I put my foot on the ground and as soon as it touched the floor I let out a scream! What in the world was going on?
At first I thought I’d sprained or broken it… but this seemed different. As this mysterious pain grew, so did my fear.

I didn’t even think to start hitting the Ibuprofen, or drinking more lemon water. I just “accepted” my pain.

I didn’t even think to start hitting the Ibuprofen, or drinking more lemon water. I just “accepted” my pain.
Eventually, I did take some Tylenol (which doesn’t help with inflammation, ahhh, rookie!) and went to the doctor’s office, but wait until you hear this story!
So there I am, at a local “Urgent Care” facility. They thoroughly checked me out, asked all the questions, even took X-rays, and all they could tell me was that it wasn’t broken. They didn’t know exactly what was going on and didn’t even think to mention gout!
Until this day, I still can’t believe you can go into a “modern” and “professional” healthcare facility, with an inflamed foot, the source of which is your big toe, and not a single nurse, doctor, or X-ray technician thought to mention gout as a possibility.
I returned home with instructions to take some Ibuprofen for the inflammation, put some ice on my foot and just “wait it out”.
It wasn’t until I had my second attack, some 6-8 months later that I finally figured out I had gout. It took a ton of research, and lots of expensive doctor’s bills, but I figured it out.
After years of attacks, I truly had enough. And that’s when IWantGoutRelief.com was born with a simple intention to benefit myself and others.
